Twenty-six hours after a sit-in on the House floor to call for a debate on gun safety measures was started by House Democrats, Rep. Capps released the following statement.
Rep. Capps hailed the signing of the PIPES Act into law today by President Barack Obama. His signature on the bill is the culmination of Capps’s efforts over the past year to strengthen the safety of our country’s natural gas and hazardous liquid pipeline system and to improve oversight of the energy industry.
Rep. Capps released a statement regarding Pacific Gas and Electric Company’s (PG&E) announcement that they will not seek relicensing for continued operation of the Diablo Canyon Power Plant beyond 2025.
Rep. Capps joined her colleagues on the Energy and Commerce Committee in support of the Helping Families in Mental Health Crisis Act (H.R. 2646), which passed unanimously, by a vote of 53 to 0. Following a lengthy revision process, Committee members were able to come together to pass H.R. 2646 in a bipartisan effort to address gaps in the American mental health care system. The bill contains several provisions to strengthen current mental health care services and practices.
