Capps Celebrates Pipeline Safety Measure Becoming Law

Rep. Capps hailed the signing of the PIPES Act into law today by President Barack Obama. His signature on the bill is the culmination of Capps’s efforts over the past year to strengthen the safety of our country’s natural gas and hazardous liquid pipeline system and to improve oversight of the energy industry.

Capps Applauds Committee Passage of Mental Health Legislation

Rep. Capps joined her colleagues on the Energy and Commerce Committee in support of the Helping Families in Mental Health Crisis Act (H.R. 2646), which passed unanimously, by a vote of 53 to 0. Following a lengthy revision process, Committee members were able to come together to pass H.R. 2646 in a bipartisan effort to address gaps in the American mental health care system. The bill contains several provisions to strengthen current mental health care services and practices.

Capps, Colleagues Introduce Legislation to Strengthen Oversight of PHMSA

Jun 14, 2016

Rep. Capps announced the introduction of legislation to hold the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) accountable for lapses in pipeline safety oversight, joining Rep. Jackie Speier, Rep. Anna Eshoo, Rep. Brad Sherman, Rep. Charles Rangel, and Rep. Paul Tonko as co-authors. The PHMSA Accountability Act, H.R. 5443, would ensure the right for communities to seek legal recourse against PHMSA if the agency fails to perform its required pipeline safety duties.
